Abstract

Lucy Dusgate will discuss her experience as a commissioner and presenter of digital art programme for audiences. From her work in theatres, galleries and public spaces, Lucy has delivered a rich programme of artistic experiences to UK and international audiences. She works with artists from across the artforms of dance, theatre performance, visual arts, literature and music to bring new collaborations between artists. This entails working internationally with co-commissioners and artists to bring art from the niche of specialist festivals and events, into mainstream cultural organisations such as The Lowry (UK) and the outdoor location of Salford Quays – home to MediaCityUK. Lucy began her career in photography, progressing into art film, new media and theatre in 1990’s London, before the emergence of digital art. Her career has followed the development of art & technology during this period of change, and her current artistic curatiing reflect how cultural organisations are connecting new audiences to digital artists.
