Deputy Chief Secretary, Kyoto City Government for Culture and Art Policy
Kozo Hiratake is Deputy Chief Secretary of Kyoto City Government for Culture and Art Policy. Also, he is Director of Rohm Theater Kyoto and Deputy Director of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. In 1982 he graduated Law faculty, Kyoto University and in 2006 obtained PhD of economy from Ryukoku University. By leading the cultural policy of Kyoto City more than 10 years, he has been focusing the redevelopment of Kyoto Kaikan and Kyoto City Museum and also has been working for the inheritance and development of traditional cultures, the protection of cultural assets, and the promotion of cutting-edge arts. Now as Director he has been working for the preparation of “Kyoto STEAM ~World Cultural Exchange Festival~,” which is an international festival focusing “Art and Science/Technology.” He has published several books including “Cultural Policy of Local Government: Report from the Scene of Town Development” (Gakugei Publishing, 2016).
